Nit Wit Ridge
Road trip this past weekend to Cambria and San Luis Obispo. I had watched tv one day last week and was flipping the channels and saw an interesting house. It was hosted by Huell Howser, he was filming a segment on Nit Wit Ridge in Cambria. I found it very interesting and I thought why not take a trip to see this Historical Landmark, it was only $10 per adult. The tour started at 1:00, we were greeted by one of the owners. This house was created in the 20’s by Arthur Harold Beal (Tinkerpaw or Capt. Nitt Witt). It was created and built from cement and found objects like beer cans, toilet seats, and abalone shells, washer machines, anything you can possibly think of. I mean the whole house was built only by himself and it is three stories, and the stairs are endless, he had I think a couple of acres. It does not look much from front, but, it is very interesting inside and in back, well, it’s just crazy! If your into that sort of stuff, I recommend it!
I also recommend the clam chowder bread bowls at the Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill!mmmmmmmm!
Earth Day
Earth day falls on Tuesday April 22nd 2008.
Earth day is a day to learn about our planet. It is also a great time for our kids to learn about our earth as well, by recycling and reusing. I think it would be awesome to share this opportunity with our children by turning would be junk into great ideas for crafts. One great idea would be to make a pet food scoop.
Parents can help kids make this by, reusing a plastic laundry bottle and cutting the top off and leaving the handle, remove all labels and rinse out the bottle with hot water. After it’s dried you can add stickers, cut and paste letters or pictures of dogs, bones, or whatever your kids are into. Then let dry before using as a pet food scoop.
